Located just south of the equator between Indonesia and Australia, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is now growing vanilla beans in production quantities that are a big hit in the world export market due to their high quality and more affordable price. PNG is the only country that produces both the well-known planifolia (Bourbon-style) vanilla beans, as well as the tahitensis-variety vanilla beans that originated in Tahiti itself.
