Amadeus supplies 100% pure ground, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla powder. Our ground vanilla powder is made from the manufacturing-grade equivalent of our gourmet-grade vanilla beans. So the quality is absolutely outstanding!

Don't be confused by so-called “pure” vanilla powders which consist of dextrose (or some other sugar compound), sprayed with vanilla extract. The white color of these powders gives away that they're mostly sugar. Our rich, finely-ground, dark brown vanilla powder is just that—pure ground vanilla beans—period. It contains no other ingredients or additives whatsoever!

In fact, most ground vanilla on the market is made from leftover or damaged beans that could not be sold as whole beans – either “gourmet” or extraction-grade – so it is ground up into powder. This ground vanilla can be relatively low in flavor components such as vanillin, the principal flavor component that gives most vanilla its characteristic flavor.

You should also be very careful to “read the fine print” in the description of other products we have seen recently on the market! Some ground vanilla being marketed now as “pure” ground is actually made from post-extracted (also referred to as “exhausted”) vanilla beans. These are beans that have already been used for making vanilla extract. So, much (if not virtually all) of the flavor in them has been depleted during that process.

By contrast, Amadeus' pure ground vanilla powder is a very high-quality product, made from only top Grade 1 virgin extract-grade beans, so it has a lot of flavor in it.
