Description
Floral, Bright, and Built for Blending
Tahitian vanilla is the choice of discerning extract makers who want to go beyond single-note vanilla. V. tahitensis produces a floral, bright, sweet flavor profile that is distinct from the warm, creamy baseline of V. planifolia — and when the two are blended in an extract, the result is something noticeably more complex and interesting than either variety alone.
Our Tahitian Extract Grade beans come from Indonesia’s Papua Region, the same source as our Tahitian Gourmet line. Grade B simply means lower moisture content — ideal for extraction, where the dry matter is what you want to infuse into alcohol. The flavor is intact.
Flavor Profile
Floral, bright, and sweet, with a light fruity note and the characteristic anisyl compounds that distinguish V. tahitensis from all other vanilla. Less vanillin than planifolia, but a more aromatic, expressive character.
Best Used For
- Homemade vanilla extract — especially as a blend component
- Blending tip: try 70% Indonesian or Madagascar planifolia beans with 30% Tahitian for a complex, layered extract
- Vanilla sugar — the floral notes carry beautifully into sugar
- Ice cream and pastry applications where you want a bright, distinctive vanilla note
